Some know as dry sanders just stick to, yep,  the top part of the beach where people sunbath and kids play.  Then you get the salty dogs ( I just made that up) who like to go out in the water or on the wetter sand.  Your need a different kind of machine to handle the wet mineralized sand better than the dry.    What are you planning on doing the most? And would you also do from time to time a little inland?
I do it with an AKA Sorex Pro

I would use it Beach dry and wet sand and inland
on our beaches it gets wet right up to the sea wall /road so must do wet sand

Getting harder to find a good one, but I would recommend a Minelab Sovereign GT.    Good for dry & wet sand as well as inland.

Hi Nick, the Safari, with it's FBS would also work well on the beach.

The Minelab Safari would be a very good choice, and can be picked up pretty reasonably price wise, the main advantage of Minelab machines when used on the wet sand is the multi-freq that is the reason that they work so well.

Yes,the sov is hard to beat on the wet sand, the excalibur, often regarded as the best beach detector, is basically just a waterproof sov I believe.
