It's a imported Continental Gallo-Belgic  ...Possibly Caletes tribe, Normandy coast....
Research along those lines ... Very nice, congrats!

The Reverse depicts a Celticized horse with rider , there's something below the horse but I am not sure what....

Yep that looks good ... if you send two good photos of the Obverse + Reverse of your coin plus a request for identification to Liz (Elizabeth Cottam) at Chris Rudd coins, Liz will help confirm the ID....

Its interesting as they say its a defaced with chisel marks type.

Apollo's head should be there instead of chisel marks.

'Lyre'  below horses.

I do it with an AKA Sorex Pro

Thanks for all your help Rusty. I Emailed liz as you suggested, this was her reply.

Hi Melv

Thank you for your email. Congratulations on your discovery! Your coin appears to be a Crossed Lines with Rider gold quarter stater, an imported coin of the Nervii tribe. References: Ancient British Coins No.37, Van Arsell 37, La Tour 8697, Spink 9.

she also said she would make me an offer if I was to sell it.. I'm not selling..

again Rusty thanks for your help

No worries mate, its a lovely find..... if you ever decide to sell ,Liz will offer you a honest and fair price....

I would recommend you get yourself a full gold membership of the forum, £8 or something for the year for full access
That way you can also nominate it for find of the month .... ;)
