Depth claims.

I wonder why some detectorists greatly exaggerate the depths they find items at.what is the greatest depth that you guys have found say a hammered penny?
Mine was at about 4 feet  and was totally masked by a car hub cap. :o

7 feet on my special secret super deep program. Once I removed the old motorbike it was a better signal, it was on it's edge.
Flirt with the dirt, beep, dig, dance....

Psst, I had to get a plane to Australia to retrieve my signal.
Turned out to be a 1kg gold nugget and the b******s wouldn't allow me to take it out of the country.  ;)

Don't feel bad. I once got a nice tone on a deep target in a parallel universe. Bloody Klingons would not let me use their worm hole to go retrieve it.

Why all the obsession with depth. L ;)

Most finds seem to be in the top 10".

Depth comes at a price, lower the frequency and go slow and then even slower.

If the Gods are with you something wonderful will surface. ;) ;D Jerry.

My deepest buckle was about 12" but it was flat at the bottom of the whole, it was a big ish spectacle buckle,my deepest coin was an old pre decimal penny at about 10", my deepest bit of plough was 2 foot, I have dug deep wholes but the target either fell in as I dug or it was in the sidewall, and to be honest who wants to be digging a 2 foot whole to find a bloody old pre decimal penny or a poxy drinks can ! I know I don't, not on a day like today that's for sure, far too hot outside to be digging that deep in this heat !

I doubt many detectorists carry a measuring tape, so the depths will mostly be good 'ol estimates, which are about as likely to be accurate as when anglers guess the weight of their fish, or the distance that they have cast! ;D
