The Rodney Cook Memorial is awaiting further developments, just seen the latest update from Gary Cook.  He'll do the responsible thing no doubt.

Many comments around the subject of open digs and rallies and the government classification of detecting.  I honestly think that a one day open dig can be arranged far safer than a car boot sale, but apparently they are allowed to go ahead, while we are not.  Perhaps a lack of understanding around how our "events" take place, but how many people outside of the hobby understand detecting ?

It's a bit more complicated for overnight two/three day rallies, with entertainment, food stalls and trade stands.  Many detectorists love the weekend rallies and I hope things change for the better soon and they can socialise at these great events once more.

Agree it would be easy to organise a one day covid19 safe dig.. A lot safer than some of the activities that will be returning next week...
With full swing of Harvest still four week away or so , plenty of time still for events to return..

Due to a medical condition I’am shielding, I would love to get back detecting Evan to go out of my garden.
With all the large crowd events over the last month London mass protests, Bournemouth beach and illegal raves I feel we are in for a 2nd wave and further lockdowns.
I can’t see why Small groups say 10 -  20 could feasibly detect and maintain safe social distancing, but large commercial rallies would be not manageable.

As always it’s a few that spoil it for the majority, what ever happens take care, those finds aren’t going anywhere and will be there for our return

It would seem that if the rally organiser is a registered company then they can allow more than 30 people.  I think they make it up as they go along.

It's not very clear is it?  Why is a registered company more responsible than a good open dig organiser?   My club are putting on digs this weekend, maximum 30 people and safety rules in place.
