I just use a Garrett there are pointers that marry to your detector, I use a deus and aFisher f75 , you could guarantee  if I had the XP pointer pair to the deus I would forget to unpair when using the Fisher so just a plain pro pointer for me, I generally remove my headphones

I was thinking of maybe getting one of the cheaper one's but don't want to buy twice.

I just need to suck it up and get something decent  :-\

I have the X pointer, had it for 4 years now, only had to change the battery once so far, I leave it on number 3 sensitivity, not sure on the price now but it was £65 new when I got mine, it comes with a lanyard, holster and replacement end caps to stop you damaging the end you poke about in the mud, it is a PI detector so it doesn't detect hot rocks or coke, but does like iron, so if there is iron around your target you will find that unfortunately, but apart from that it has served me well for a pointer that was less than £70. It's not waterproof so if its wet outside I cover it with a plastic bag, I would imagine there is a waterproof cover for it somewhere for sale, but I've not bothered looking as a plastic bag has worked well enough to stop it from getting water damage.

After spending all morning researching and changing my mind I've bitten the bullet and ordered a carrot  :)

I had the old model years ago and it did the job  until it got mislayed.

I'll get a lanyard me thinks off the bay  :)

Thanks for the ideas chaps..

Can't go wrong with a carrot, and I always used a lanyard mate.
