Title: Cadbury Treasure hunt, cream eggs R us
Post by: nailman on March 17, 2019, 06:17 pm
https://treasures.cadbury.co.uk/
Chocolate giant Cadbury have produced a treasure hunting site, the wording leaves a lot to be desired for example
there is mention of the Frome hoard , which then adds “ so grab your metal detector and go hunting for Roman riches! “ this encourages illegal metal detecting.

Another example “Over 1,500 years ago, an Anglo-Saxon King buried his gold in a field in Chelmsford. Now, 1,500 years later, the treasure's fair game.”

Far Game !! Can I suggest as Detectorist we deploy such activities, My  suggestion boycott Cream Eggs , or send them a email which I have done pointing out the wording which encourages Illegal detecting

No way I am boycotting cream eggs, taste far to good.
Sorry nailman, but I was reading how the archaeological community were triggered by this, and my immediate thought was what a bunch of killjoys...
