I've been suffering badly recently of " tennis elbow " ( detectorists elbow I've named it!)
The arm rest, always seemed to hit exactly on the sore point of my elbow,, 18 months of agony!
So this morning I thought enough of this,, I'll try and shorten the shaft that the arm rest is situated, so in theory the arm cuff would sit lower down my arm, away from my elbow,,
To my utter surprise,,,,,, when removing the single screw from the arm rest and sliding off the arm rest cuff,, there's 3 x holes,,,, adjustable arm rest!!!!!! Simple, repositioning to the lower hole, job done,,, arm rest now sits 2 inches below my elbow!!!!
" one never stops learning " 😀

I too found this a little while back when my 8 year old boy wanted to go detecting with me.
It was a little to long, so I took it apart thinking it's a hacksaw job and like you Dave, found the 3 threaded holes. Adjusted it to his size and out we went.
Hope your elbow gets better mate. Elbows and shoulder joints are a real pain to have.
