That's so common, has cattle been grazing on it? If so the salt content will be high which can sometimes be difficult to unlock those targets.

That's interesting. I never thought about that aspect of livestock on a field. Does it also apply to horses ?

Evening fellow dirt sharks  ;D

( Detectorists fans will get it )

I've got a field really close to home with loads of iron but very little in the way of finds 🤔

I reckon I've spent around 10 hours in there had about 10 buttons,a few toasted coins, usual rubbish and out of the blue
One silver denarius 😳

It's pasture and hasn't been ploughed for years so maybe there's more goodies but they're deep 🤔

It's the sort of field that doesn't want to give up much 😐

That's a good idea Boots 🤔👍

As I like to say, “great minds think alike, mediocre ones just land on the right track.”

At the very least remove batteries if storing, you can always put the detector in a plastic bag, use hoover to remove most air then seal it up, damp should never be a problem.

A bag with a couple of packets of silica gel should do the trick nicely.

They certainly aren't common Mayhem.....at least not here in New England. Everyone has a linen closet in their bathrooms for towels etc., but it's just storage. There is no heating or air circulation in them.

Thanks for sharing that Oilee. Glad it came back for you. Plus I also learned what an "airing cupboard" was. Great idea! I could use one of those quite often!

Blimey Lodge, don't you have those over there? :o
