Title: Friend wants a metal detector (beginner, novice)

Hey guys, i have taken my friend metal detecting with me the last couple of times. I have lent him my old tesoro silver sabre 2, its old and needs servicing and the cable is a bit dodgy, so needless to say he's out grown it ::)
He is really enthusiastic about the hobby and wants his own detector. He has a budget of around £350.
I have a Tesoro Tejon which I love, but my friend is a little overwhelmed by all the knobs on it so I think simple is the way to go,

I was just hoping that you guys can speak from experience about a good novice detector, I have had a look around and am thinking strongly about a deeptech vista mini.
