Hi Peeps. Both these in my budget. Man at Regton advised the AT Pro but Adventis looks simpler to understand and I see that XP have a great reputation right now.
What should I do people ??
-
Hi Keith, where are you detecting? Land or beach or both?
-
Hi Oscar
Bedfordshire so inland farms and fields once I finally choose my first machine. I want something I can grow with, not a starter that I will want to upgrade in 5 minutes (possibly) and Adventis and AT Pro seem to stand out in my price range. I'm doing lots of research !
-
but Adventis looks simpler to understand
see I thought the opposite, wanting to upgrade my 20yr old c=scope, and after checking them all, thought the garrett would be better and simpler
-
Interesting. lots of buttons on AT Pro. I have read many reports of issues with faults on AT Pro which is a worry?
-
Perhaps save a little more money and look for a used XP Goldmaxxor Deus Ws4
-
Better to get a quality used machine than a new basic model.
When you upgrade, you will also get most of your original money back for the next machine
Many have followed this advice in the past. ;) :) Jerry.

The last two replies are spot on advice and what I would have said.

at pro is a great detector and easy to use. I had one, moved to the deus, my mate still has his and does VERY,VERY well with it.
waterproof, light, and loves the small stuff, good iron rejection and the depth is ok to, sometimes wish I had kept mine.garretts best detector in my view. had the adventis few years back, good detector but I would rather have the garrett.
mick.

On earlier units there were a few issues, later units are perfectly OK.
-
Thanks everyone. I can see the argument for a second hand high end model, and it's the only way I could afford Goldmaxx or Deus.
I must admit XP machines seem to have such a great reputation right now, but then again AT Pro seems to have a lot of whistles and bells for under 600
-
When you make your mind up I will be on hand to answer all your XP questions ;)
Best of luck whatever you choose, there are so many choices out there, perhaps attend a local dig and talk with fellow detectorists.
-
Gary that's a great idea but I'm struggling to find detectorists in Bedfordshire.

if your ever over essex way happy for a chat, or have a woodland in kent you could come to
-
dexters shed that's a kind offer. Once I have the chosen weapon I would love that, and the chance to learn what to do !!
-
I have an AT PRO and a DEUS both good machines but I must admit I prefer the DEUS so light to use. AT PRO simple to use, still learning with the DEUS but a pleasure to use.
-
I own a Adventis good machine highly recommend, I did own a AT pro one of the early ones problems galore, might just have been unlucky.
More finds with XP

Hi Keith67 revived you're PM replied but it says you're inbox is full
I've had a hammy drought for the last two years. :(
But found the Adventis good on Romans, Vicky coppers, and Vicky silver shillings.
Found the top of a silver hat pin. It is good on small stuff the pasture land I go on it finds AirTunes pellets and the ubiquitous four hole buttons.
The double discrim is well worth the extra over the 150 they both operate on the same frequency

Thanks buddy I will clean the inbox too!
-
Do you think the hammy drought could be a weakness in Adventis ?
-
No just crap ground my theory is if it's there and you walk over it.
It finds buttons etc so is capable of small targets,, I sold my XPGMP and got a Fisher f75 but much prefer the XP adventis I started with tone ID machines old habits die hard
-
Nailman from what I have read tones are more reliable than most screens, that's my take on several comments anyway mate.

I agree I always trust the mk1 ear drum
-
I have read some very good reports on XP and C Scope and no screens on either (except the posh Deus :) )
I watched the Norfolk Wolf DVD on using all the XP range and he talks about learning the tones and growing to know the bad iron targets. He knew a thing or two mate.
