Just got a minelab sovereign elite just putting it together and noticed 2 splits in the cable the worse split has tiny fractures the 2nd smaller split is about 8" from the coil so can the cable be replaced? Got it off eBay so I can go through paypal if needed.
-
Is it outer sheath or the wires if just outer tape I do not think you can tack coils a part
-
One of the splits has breaks in the wires so probably needs to be spliced and heatshrinked just a pain as it wasn't mentioned in the advert.
-
Return it
-
I have sent a msg to the seller I'm 50/50 at the moment
-
As its not as described return it it open a case. It will do more damage to try and repair it
-
Why keep something and have the worry to repair it yourself, return it and find another coil or similar.Simples
-
I had the same trouble with a sovereign the seller told me it was 100. % and when I recived it .it was not working at then told me to go forth and multiply I rang eBay the grave me the £180 back and I could keep the detector
-
So far no reply from the seller I will give him until tomorrow eve to reply.
-
If you open a case ensure you include photos of the defect. This will help your case.
-
Suggest you open the case now , he will have his chance when the case is up and running
-
I did include photos in the initial msg will give him until 8pm to respond.
-
having gone through this myself mrbaker, I'd recommend opening a case sooner rather than later,
-
Ebay always back the buyer good luck.
-
Open the case soon as possible, don't give the seller the excuse of you used it you broke it.
-
If paid thru Paypal escalate the dispute to a claim right away.
-
If he cant be bothered to reply, let ebay sort it
-
Just been sorted with a partial refund I will put it towards a new coil after speaking to Steve cox he can repair it but can't guarantee it due to he cannot get into the coil itself so if the splice is above the entry point on the coil it will still be prone to breakage.

i,ve heard so many detectorists saying bad stuff about ebay .
i,ve used it over ten years ,buying and selling .
95% of my experiences have been great . wish i could say that regarding detecting purchase/sales ,more like 50%
my biggest problems have always come from buying detectors
seems theres a high percentage of detectorists who are happy to lie through thier teeth about condition/functionality ,or just say nothing about a issue ,thinking less said, better price.
but like has been stated ebay will always look after the buyer .
thats ok till you sell a machine and they claim it doesnt work on the 13th day of your 14 day return policy
try before you buy merchants . so it comes back with a broken battery wire that you have to repair and your down your postage ,but at least you got off light . they can trash your machine and say it came that way .
sadly ebay selling can be a worse nightmare world than buying . ???

I know it's always convenient, but that's why I insist on a face to face.
