Title: Deus lite hf or Orx Hf help needed.
Post by: Martin on May 01, 2019, 10:25 pm
I need a light weight machine for when my shoulder is bad.. I use Anfibio for pasture as I like it’s depth and T2 sparkiness.. I’ve had a Deus in the past and i only need it for busy areas and when my shoulder plays up. I tend tones rather than looking at the screen so I’m sure I would go for the 9”HF. I’m not sure if to go Orx or Deus Lite..

There are added adjustments to the headphones now, so the Lite has been improved.

I also have a bad shoulder so the deus is my first choice, the ORX is a step down

With the added headphone functionality of V5.2, the Lite makes so much more sense for similar money. Plus, you always have the option of upgrading to full Deus by adding the remote at a later date.

Deus every time for me and its paid me back many times over the last 10 years.

I was once a Minelab nut and they do produce good machines, but they are making up for lost ground over the last 18 months. ;)

There lies the nub, where will the ground come from for folks to use them in the not so distant future.

Only a minority of us detectorists filled out the Questionnaire giving our opinions and views of the proposed changes to the treasure act.  >:(

I wonder where all these detectors that will be surplus to requirements will end up. ::)

Got a full deus setup as a spare,  with ws5's and 11" lf.
£760.
Better off buying that ,than a lite with ws4 for 550.

Bought it for the wife Jerry, 2 months second hand for 860.
It's never moved !
Pointless keeping it, she might as well use the kids ace250... If ever at all  ;D

You don't see many at that price (more like £900), so you got a proper bargain there :)

Well, actually you do see the odd full Deus advertised at a very low price (and ludicrously cheap CTXs). However, the snag is that for some odd reason the "seller" will normally not allow collection and will only accept bank transfer or Paypal friends and family payments. I wonder why... ::)

When I had a Deus a while back I wasn’t able to access all the menus via the ws4 phones hence the need for the controller. Am I right in thinking it’s now possible to access nearly all the options via the Ws4s so the remote would only be for the display/Xs screen and updating software.

I thought you meant you'd bought one for that price. That's a real bargain for someone! :)

And defining tonebreaks, which you can't do on the 'phones. Presumably you also can't save any custom settings, and would need to re-enter every time?

It’s like Breaking the t.v remote, the t.v will work but a pain in the arse switching channels .
The remote price is ridiculous and your getting raped if anyone buys a new one, buy second hand they tend to go for around the 350 mark ...yes, even at that it’s expensive but it’s a must have in my opinion .
With this newish equinox being so popular , xp should slash the deus price , full setup 900 new .

I very very nearly bought an orx remote a few weeks ago for £220 , I thought great, I’ve got spare coils and a stem from the deus, I’ll make a new machine... luckily for me, at the death I read that the orx only uses the hf coils , which I didn’t have .
So that cheap £220 machine would of ended up costing me £570 ! ...
Lucky escape

I think you can save settings?

You can save 8 custom programs with either WS4 or WS5 headphones. They are saved in P11 up to P18.

Martin, I would have a good look at the new specs on the WS4 headphones, with the added features you can make a lot of adjustments, and save programmes.

I started with a lite on the old WS4s and loved it, with the added adjustments it can only be better.  I guess a lot comes down to how much you like having a visual remote.

Just to add, it's only versions 5 that provides extra functions to the headphones.
