Title: XP back pack my review by a cyclist
Post by: kris milner on October 23, 2020, 09:14 am
When the xp back pack was launched i thought at that price it will be a challenge to sell it . Then lock down came along and my club digs stopped as i use to drive around a hour to get to them so i was left in a situation where i had to look closer to home to get a permission . So i got on my bike and went door knocking and had success about 2 mile away from home parking was awkward but i had easy access on my bike this is where the xp back pack comes in it was a impulse buy but i did it and what a good decision it was i can put all my gear and more in it the build quality is 100% and the design is first class you cannot use all the pockets as there are too many when riding my bike to permissions it fits snuggly i can recommend this back pack if you see a cyclist in yorkshire with a xp back pack give me a toot .... ps its a electric bike so i don't hang around  ;D

Good to hear the positive review and that it is working for you. Not surprised on quality of product, XP equipment I have found everything is, apart from delicate pins on coil charger, but that's a minor point. Happy hunting and well done on getting a permission close to home!

I've been tempted but my way of travelling and detecting can't justify it.  But it does look excellent.

Kris, I don't bike to sites but I do hike to sites. In your opinion will it hold two coils, tools, lunch, a bottle of water and a thermos of coffee, and some rain gear ?

This backpack has endless pockets and zips if i have to walk a long way at dig sites i would get all i need in it inc food and drink and waterproofs and most off all its padded so is very comfy to wear xp have put a lot of thought into this backpack it even gives you a small motif to let you know what goes where in each compartment i give it 5 stars as for the finds bag i have just attached it and theres a bit to attach the pin-pointer holder  to it just need this covid carry on to go then i can get some club digs in as its a bit lonely on my permission as the land owner will only let me on ....

Kris, what's the weight of the bag like on it's own please?, I notice it's fairly sturdy material?

Lodge - if you want to know how much can fit in then watch this, although of course the more you pack, the more you have to carry  ;D

Watched that video Keith. He just kept on pulling stuff out of that pack. Looks like a great pack for my winter detecting kit.

I could not wait for Christmas and bought myself the XP backpack. Kris, I couldn't agree with you more. It really is a well made and well designed pack. Easily held all my gear....and in an organized manner. I carry a lot extra gear when I am by myself out in the woods in the cold weather just to be safe. But today was unseasonable warm. The backpack has pads so it doesn't hug your back and helps you stay cool. The finds pouch that came with it is a nice addition. Attached it to the backpack and stuck my pinpointer in it while detecting, and my water bottle in it when I was hiking out.

I didn't pay full price because I had some money left on a gift card at my local metal detecting shop, but even at full price I would definitely consider it good purchase.

Can you tell me how heavy the back pack is, as I'm only short.

Tangorory, it weighs about 3.3 kilograms. It's frameless. I am still loving mine.
