Thanks for posting just come back from a walking holiday on the Waterloo battlefield, that stuff was devistating against troops in mass ranks.

I would imagine they were very efficient at killing and maiming,some of the injuries must have been truly horrific.

Some small cannons fired a single shot less than 1" in diameter.

I found 5 of them unused in a small patch left by Oliver Cromwell soldiers a few years ago.

Most of my hunting is relic hunting so you find grape shot it is hard to think how terrible it was to be in front of that . The south had their own version they would take what was at hand old bullets,nails etc. and cut a hole in canon ball stuff powder and junk in fill hole with lead plug and fire away. It's a thrill to find one of those lead plugs.
