Title: "the Searcher" hit the deck today.
Post by: JBM on May 23, 2018, 07:51 pm
Huge double page advert by XP deus as I opened the bumper issue.

What stood out was the large Minelab advertising for the old CTX3030.

What happened to the new Equinox this month? ;)

Happy Hunting,

Jerry.

They obviously fancied doing something different, like advertising a machine that's in stock  ;D

Nice one Keith
Or are they stuck with a large stock of 3030 that no one is buying, because everyone wants the ( handmade) Nox.
Have they shot themselves in the foot by over hyping the Nox, instead of just introducing it

It would be very interesting to know how many new units Etrac and Ctx wise dealers have shifted in the last few months. A few of the respected used machine dealers are offering Etracs at £575 and CTXs near the grand mark..

Must admit the CTX prices for used machines has dropped significantly on e-bay in recent months.

Could be a own goal with the Equinox outselling their other machines. ;)

Happy Hunting,

Jerry.

Maybe, maybe not.  They must have realised this was a possible risk.  But how many people would own a Nox and a 3030 anyway?  They can't expect to have their cake and eat it.

Owning both machines the CTX gets my vote every time. Already 2 of my detecting friends have sold their EQ's and in many ways regret parting with the CTX.

Looking at the sold listings in the Advanced search, there seems to be a wide variation of prices. There was one recently that was put on for £750 Buy-it-Now which was quickly reduced to £700 before it sold. Others with 11 & 17" coil have sold for £800-£900, and yet some with just the stock coil and no extras have fetched well over a thousand. That's eBay for you!

It would'nt be the first balls up they've made.......scrapping the sovereign was a whopper........in my humble opinion. ;)

I second that, it makes you wonder who is the person in the driving seat, possibly not a detector user.

They could have tweaked the sov.......finer adjustment on the lower end of the discrim would have been good.
The sov was probably a bit of a dilemma for minelab.......still quite a popular machine but not selling as  many as they used to..........but probably enough to take sales away from newer more expensive models.
No brainer for the money men..........don't give the detectorist the choice......get rid of it and turn the detectorists attention on to the newer machines.........loadser money. ;D
