Hi all,

looking for some advice, my mum has lost a gold piece of jewellery in the house, we've looked everywhere but no joy.

its very sentimental as her late husband bought it for her.

is a detector a wand best to help locate it? I'm based in Cardiff.

first rule dont vacuum ,and if she cant remember when she last had it let everyone know not to change the vacuum bag .
my missus has come home twice now and said have you seen a ear ring .
dont ask me why she cant use the phone when she gets to work .
both days we had had the cleaners in and they bring their own vacuum.
not found either ear ring so my money is on they were sucked up .

It could be possible to use one to find it but....

You have to remember a house has a lot of metal used in its construction

A wooden floor will have loads of nails holding it together and a concrete one will be reenforced with metal too

I think you'll have more luck using eyes only, any sort of detector will be pinging all over the place

I also wonder if you are thinking that a metal detector will be able to pinpoint and distinguish gold - unfortunately its not as simple as that!
